Questions

Worth a read first

What sort of money are we talking?

Broader spread than people expect, and the suite is hardly ever the biggest line. A small shower room and a family bathroom tiled top to bottom sit in different brackets entirely. The quote splits labour from materials so you can see exactly which decisions are driving it and change your mind on any of them.

How long before we get the room back?

Most of a week for a whole bathroom; shower rooms and one-for-one swaps come in quicker. Where the house has only the one bathroom we order the work so the toilet returns to use early on, and we tell you upfront which days will be the awkward ones.

Are we picking the suite or are you?

Either suits us. Plenty of people arrive with everything chosen down to the handles. Others give us a number and a general steer and ask us to come back with a couple of options. No difficulty at our end whichever way round.

Where does the old one end up?

In our van and off site. Suite, tiles, flooring, rubble — the lot goes, and the room gets brushed through and wiped before you set foot in it.

Can a bath come out and a shower go in?

Yes, and it’s far and away the most common thing people ring about. Bath out, services shifted to suit, walls boarded and tanked, then tray, screen and tiling. Days rather than weeks in a normal room.

Wet room or shower room — which is which?

Comes down to the tray. Shower rooms have one, with glass around it. Wet rooms don’t — the floor itself gets tanked and sloped to a drain, so there’s no lip at all. Wet rooms want more prep but they’re the best answer if a step is a problem.

Is tiling and electrical work in the price?

It is. Walls, floors, panelling, plus the electrics — downlights, extractor, shaver socket. One crew handles all of it, so nothing stalls while we wait for somebody else to have a free morning.

Ours is a back-to-back with dodgy floors. Any good?

Completely normal. A lot of the housing in and around Leeds is Victorian terrace and back-to-back, with floors that bounce and walls with a lean on. It changes how we set out and where we pack, not whether the job is doable.

Do you charge for coming out?

No. Somebody comes and has a proper look, a written price follows, and that’s where it ends unless you get back in touch. You won’t get chased.

Which parts of Leeds?

The city and the suburbs — Headingley, Chapel Allerton, Roundhay, Moortown, Meanwood, Horsforth, Guiseley, Pudsey, Armley, Beeston, Morley, Garforth and Cross Gates among them. Slightly outside that, ring and ask.
